The CubePan is the newest 135 format system from Chroma. It's a compact, lightweight, system with dedicated, interchangeable, magnetic lens cones to allow for a range of focal lengths to be used by the photographer.
All CubePan cameras come with one lens cone/helicoid (where required) as standard. If there is a specific lens you wish to use, and it's not listed, get in touch and a custom cone can be designed, so long as the rear element is smaller than 60mm diameter, and the shutter size is smaller than 54mm;
All lens cones are secured using 8 very strong neodymium magnets, and can be removed by pushing the left side of the cone from the inside of the body to release the magnets.
The CubePan has a traditional hinged rear door, with a strong stainless steel hinge pin, slot in film reminder, and 4 integrated magnets to ensure a strong locking closure.
The widest frame format is a truly panoramic 24x72mm, all cameras also come with slot-in baffles, which can be fitted before loading the film, to reduce the frame size to 24x48mm or 24x24mm. Like the Baby Cube pinhole system, there is an integrated sprocket hole counting mechanism, and an external dual-colour indicator wheel, allowing precise frame spacing for each frame format;
The CubePan camera weighs only 274g, without lens, making it a very compact system that you can comfortably carry in a small bag, or attached via a camera strap. Like the Six:9 and Six:12 cameras, it uses a pair of machined aluminium winding knobs, and a precise ratchet, for winding the film. There are also a pair of integrated bearings in the take up spool for smooth movement.
There are two clicked frame counter wheels on the base of the camera, allowing you to manually keep track the film usage. The wheel on the left tracks the 'Tens' (0-5), and the wheel on the right tracks the 'Units' (0-9), allowing the indication of frame number up to the 52 frames of the 24x24mm square format.
As well as a standard 1/4" tripod thread built in to the base of the camera, there is a single central coldshoe on the top plate and an integrated bubble level for accurate framing/composition.
There are no lenses or accessories included with the CubePan - These are to be supplied by the photographer.
